LSE Communications Division is responsible for leading and coordinating internal and external communications across and on behalf of LSE.

Job Description

The team provides advice, training and support internally including in public affairs, digital communications, student communications, design and brand.


We are looking for an experienced and motivated Social Media Manager who can bring ideas and enthusiasm to a busy Communications Division. The post holder will play an important role at the heart of how LSE communicates with its students, staff, potential students, and alumni.


On a day to day basis the post holder will manage LSE’s central social media channels by creating and scheduling exciting and eye-catching content for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram that maintains our position as one of the most followed universities in the world; manage incoming messages and mentions, and respond with guidance from colleagues in the Media Relations team or Internal Communications team where appropriate; and line manage one social media team member and two blog editors. The post holder will also continuously develop and execute LSE’s social media strategy, working with colleagues in Professional Services Divisions and Academic Departments to ensure best practice is being followed.


We are looking for outstanding candidates who have experience of successfully drafting and implementing a university or other large international organisation’s social media strategy; expert knowledge and practical experience of daily management of a university or other large international organisation’s social media channels; and expert knowledge and practical experience of social media analytics and tools such as Sprout Social, Twitter Analytics and Facebook Insights.
