This is a one of a kind opportunity for a high energy and experienced accessibility specialist to help drive our exciting new accessibility initiative within Pearson: the largest learning company in the world.

The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in accessibility standards and best practices, and demonstrated aptitude forbug tracking, issue tracking, and project management.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • BA required
  • Extensive knowledge of accessibility solutions, standards and/or principles (WCAG 2.0 AA, etc.) specifically related to accessibility development.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Accessibility bug tracking, issue tracking, and project management experience
  • Proven problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to identify alternatives and make contingency plans
  • Capacity to embrace change and quickly adapt to new situations, changes in direction, and altering priorities
  • Flexibility to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and assignments
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking
  • Medium to large scale projects and resource management experience.

Preferred:

  • SME with experience with web technologies including MathML, JavaScript, HTML/XHTML and Accessible Rich Internet Applications (WAI-ARIA)
  • Extensive knowledge of accessibility solutions
  • Experience with bug tracking systems such as JIRA
  • Experience using assistive technologies such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver
