An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic HCPC registered band 6 Dietitian who feels ready to take the next step in their career to progress to a band 7 role. St. Andrew’s Healthcare is a leading, not for profit, provider of in-patient psychiatric care.

Firstly, a bit about us

St Andrew’s is the UK’s leading mental healthcare charity with an excellent and well-deserved reputation as a provider of specialist mental healthcare, and a top 20 charity overall.  We have a multi-disciplinary team of over 4,500 staff who deliver world-class, innovative and holistic care each day across our five locations.

As a charity, all of our profits are re-invested into new services and new facilities, a legacy which has carried on through our 178 year history.  Today we proudly continue to build excellent mental healthcare services – with Europe’s largest adolescent unit recently opened.  And because we’re independent, we have the flexibility to make a real difference in the world of mental health.  Joining us is your chance to make a big contribution to the lives of some of society’s most vulnerable people.

The role and person

This post will be on our Northampton site, which provides care to men, women and CAMHS within medium and low secure and locked units. You will have excellent communication skills and self-motivation .  Meeting nutritional needs in this context can be challenging but very rewarding with the opportunity to make a significant difference to patient care. We are committed to on-going professional development and have monthly professional meetings which you will be supported to attend.
This role will build on your existing dietetic skills - clinical knowledge, communication skills, motivational interviewing, case load management and collaborative working.

Working as part of a centralized dietetic team a large part of your case load would be to manage the nutritional needs of the female patients within the newly formed DBT / LD / WMH and PD integrated practice units (IPUs). Part of your caseload would include management of the more complex disordered eating and diagnosed eating disorder female patients. Previous experience of working with patients with eating disorders is extremely desirable for this post.

You could also expect to see a wide range of nutritional need including weight management, diabetes (type 1 and type2) and food allergies and intolerances.
Support will be provided by the band 7 dietitians within the department and the department benefits from dietetic assistant input. St Andrews has a strong ethos of multidisciplinary working and the dietetics team works closely with the on-site catering team who provide a fresh cook catering service, tailored to patient’s needs.

St Andrews Healthcare offers an attractive benefits package including pension, sickness policy on par with the NHS, 35 days annual leave, life cover, cycle to work scheme, childcare vouchers, healthcare cash plan, free parking and paid DBS application.
