Delivery. Work. People: A Day in the life of an Agile Delivery Manager
Day to day, you'll act as both servant and leader to your team. You'll guard their time, and protect their ability to deliver.
A technical problem arises that needs a solution. As the delivery manager you frame the work as a learning problem for your team. It is not an execution problem - you know that simply telling your team to execute a prescribed solution takes away the creative process involved in building quality services with real life outcomes. It separates purpose and execution.
You know how to get your team to recognise that it's important to deliver value early and to learn and adapt to our citizens evolving needs in a complex world.
You foster an environment of continuous validation with Agile standards of respect, openness, and courage. You create an environment of psychological safety for your multi-disciplinary team.
You ask lots of questions. You're a role model for curiosity, and the cycle of inspection and adaptation. Your teams quickly adopt a habit and a culture of learning about user outcomes and seeking quick feedback.
Your role as an Agile Delivery Manager is to enable the work, and not impose how it's done.
You mitigate against micro-management. You deliver projects by giving motivated and skilled individuals the trust, autonomy and conditions to do their thing.
You make the work visible to stakeholders. You will arrange demos from the user researchers, designers and developers. You give your team the chance to share progress and their work to date, so we can get feedback, consider solutions and suggestions long before the story reaches production.

You'll join our teams in your choice of either Blackpool, Leeds or Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
