What you´ll do

We are seeking a seasoned data and AI professional to own and drive engagement around new AI technologies and projects across AZIT. This will directly support the delivery of AstraZeneca's ambition of putting AI at the heart of 80% of our business processes by 2025. You will be at the centre of how we drive adoption of AI across our company, developing new frameworks and standard methodologies for how we develop and use AI across AZIT. This individual will work collaboratively across our team, with the wider AI communities and across AZIT to develop and complete our AI IT2025 strategy, delivering value to the organisation and help achieve our goal of democratising AI.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Enterprise AI Services team, to assist in the engagement, evaluation and implementation of the latest innovation in Artificial Intelligence. We are looking for someone with the relevant experience to drive this vision, enabling AI practitioners across AstraZeneca to deliver AI projects responsibly and ethically. Coordinating the enterprise introduction and adoption of best-of-breed AI technology and tooling will require you to balance technical skills with great communication and program management abilities.

The ideal candidate will have industry experience working on different types of artificial intelligence projects including machine learning, implementing data processing pipelines, but also managing enterprise IT systems and projects. The position will work across our AI groups to evaluate external innovation, as well as enhancing and introducing new technologies and tools to make AstraZeneca successful with AI at enterprise scale.

You will work alongside a distributed team of AI & machine learning engineers and have the chance to work with technologies that will advance the standard of healthcare improving the lives of millions of patients across the globe. Our team empowers scientists and data scientists all the way from early research to manufacturing to be successful with some of our hardest machine learning challenges. You will ensure that our ML engineers can be productive and work smoothly with the rest of the IT community.

Key Accountabilities

  • Partner with business collaborators to identify AI problems and evaluate internal and external technology solutions for these
  • Work with external partners to bring latest advances in AI into AstraZeneca
  • Establish close collaboration with all AI partners across the Business Technology Groups to ensure input and adoption of AI services
  • Help collate our global metrics in measuring our ambition of embedding AI in 80% of our essential business processes by 2025.
  • Manage, update and enhance our global AI catalogue as well as support the capture of value consistently across AI projects.
  • Collaborate with machine learning engineers and IT professionals on defining reusable services for data science and AI
  • Explore innovative machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies for health that can accelerate our AI delivery
  • Ensure success and adoption of developer tooling within our data science and AI area
  • Liaise with other teams to enhance our technological stack, to enable the adoption of the latest advances in data pipelines and AI.

Essential for the role

  • A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics or related subjects
  • >2 years experience working in the pharmaceutical industry with data or AI related background
  • Been involved in AI projects from ideation to proof of concept to productionisation.
  • Experience running enterprise technology projects, including engagement with technical and non-technical partners
  • Ability to work with business objectives, turning these into requirements and business cases for enterprise investment
  • Creative, collaborative, & product focused.
