Responsibilities

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual who is skilled in relationship management, ideally with experience which spans both higher education and business. A passion for helping young people to succeed is essential. The successful candidate will work closely with key colleagues in the formulation and implementation of strategy and policy in the area of alumni relations and substantially enhance the existing programme.

Key responsibilities

Working under the direction and supervision of the Alumni Relations and Talent Development Manager, the role includes:

  • Working with key colleagues (e.g. Director of Industry Engagement, Alumni Relations and Talent Development Manager and the two academic Deans) to create and implement an alumni strategy and programme which reflects the mission of the College;
  • Development of high quality relationships with alumni of Pearson College London;
  • Identifying and build relationships with key alumni so that they engage in identified meaningful opportunities within the College to support the College’s strategic objectives in terms of student experience, employability, branding and recruitment (e.g. mentoring, guest speaking, internship provision);
  • Management and development of the PCL Alumni Society and community, including outreach to existing students to encourage future sign ups by creating a marketing and recruitment plan;
  • Development of an alumni communications plan in liaison with colleagues in the communications team;
  • Development and delivery of a vibrant social media presence;
  • Graduate Outcomes, including:;
  • Manage the change of process from Destination of Leavers from Higher Education to Graduate Outcomes internally and externally.
  • Generate a comprehensive and thoughtful communications plan that ensures auditable requirements and the minimum response rate, set by HESA, are met.
  • Dissemination of an internal narrative around the results and process.
  • Generate an external narrative around the results for the External Relations function to use in marketing messaging both online and offline;
  • Management of an alumni database ensuring all contact details are kept current;
  • Work with the Contracts and Compliance Manager to ensure alumni data is held, managed and protected well, ensuring compliance across schools through the alumni data guidelines;
  • Organisation and delivery of all alumni events;
  • Supporting the Student Services and the Events Team with the planning and execution of Graduation;
  • Ensuring External Relations team and the academic schools are alerted to alumni achievements in order to support with marketing, student recruitment and brand activity;
  • Working with the External Relations function to produce collateral in relation to the alumni function for marketing and promotional purposes;
  • Assistance with student recruitment activities, including attendance at UCAS fair, school visits and other similar events;
  • Liaison with the careers function in helping alumni find suitable graduate employment;
  • Organisation of feedback collection from alumni to ensure that use of the alumni voice is optimised in terms of knowledge transfer;
  • Building, developing and maintaining the benefits portfolio for alumni, ensuring liaison with facilities, IT and the talent development functions to ensure that all services promised to alumni (in terms of ongoing access to resources) are delivered to and used by alumni (support from Alumni Relations and Talent Development Manager);

  • An undergraduate degree at 2:1 or above;

The ideal candidate will enjoy building and maintaining relationships, benefiting both parties. They will also have the marketing experience to be able to build a thriving alumni community and the benefits that attract sign up, e.g. running events. The role requires the ability to work independently and so a good attention to detail, confidence and accuracy is important. This is a varied role and so would suit someone who is flexible and able to put their hand to different tasks efficiently and productively. They should be a real doer!
