About the team

Pearson are committed to delivering a simplified business not only to our learners and customers but to your staff members. Finance leadership team has been defining the future finance operating model to work on the basis of One Finance team working in conjunction with The Enabling program (TEP) delivering greater consistency and standardisation through global systems, processes and policies. The Finance Operations Team are responsible for all accounts payable, accounts receivable & payroll processes globally.

20% of your time will be focused on training/your apprenticeship coursework 80% of your time will be spent in the office supporting your team

What you will be doing

Supporting Global Process Leads & Project Managers with ongoing projects within Finance Operations

  • Help preparation activities for Senior Leadership Team meetings - this will include helping draft agendas and meeting timings, collecting all materials needed to support the meetings, organising logistics with EAs, following-up key actions
  • Managing reminders to teams to update key reports to given
  • Attend meetings and noting minutes & actions

Coordinating team & ensuring focus is kept on key priorities and critical activities

  • Owning the calendar of events of the team – including tracking against project plans
  • Maintain priorities and action lists
  • Maintain and Update intranet communications - sharing good news stories and upcoming events
  • Learning Pearson systems for expenses, travel, invoicing etc

Optimising key processes and creating standardised templates

  • Help the finance operations team draft standard templates to keep our tasks simple and consistent
  • Identify process simplification through process analysis

Networking and building strong relationships with key stakeholders across Finance, HR and Technology.

Qualifications

Key skills & competencies

The position would suit a highly motivated self-starter who would like to pursue a career as a within a large dynamic organisation.

  • Able to build good working relationships with a variety of teams.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Excellent and accurate organisation and planning skills, time management and attention to detail
  • Sound Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills and a good working knowledge of Email (Google Mail or Outlook)
  • Understand the need to be discrete and respect confidentiality at all times
  • Problem solving skills

Desirable

  • Experience in preparing reports / supporting key governance meetings
  • Have basic experience of co-ordination or project management roles

Business Administration Apprenticeship Standard – Level 3

During the Apprenticeship, the post holder will work towards gaining Level 3 qualifications in Business Administration through work based learning.

As part of the training for the advanced Business Administration Apprenticeship you'll complete:

  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Business Administration
  • Level 3 Certificate in Business Administration
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Mathematics
