This role will report to the Director of Inventory/Asset Control (UK) LLP, with a national remit, and forming part of the wider finance team.

Our Opportunity

You will be responsible for supporting and creating stable and efficient processes within business units in WIP management for half the UK business. This includes the efficient translation of time into bills, timely cash collection (from the perspective of bills out the door, minimum queries, compliance with the firms and client billing procedures and protocols), and disbursement management (timely payment, disbursement only billing, minimising the risk of late payments and minimising write-offs). Management of and following up on necessary write-offs in accordance with the firm’s policies and protocols in a timely and professional manner as well as liaising with, supporting, and assisting the European and Australian Office Managing Partners and Finance teams is key.

You will liaise with the UK LLP Credit Collection team and Credit Control Team Leader, seeking to ensure a consistent Finance approach and a two-way flow of information as well as the objective of supporting and maximizing value and cash from reduction and management of optimal lockup days. Ensuring you drive the management of work in progress into billings, dealing continuously with ageing or non-billable elements, and making sure performance is at the highest level in the industry, seeking to keep Lock up days for WIP within or better than the industry average is important. You will identify measurements suited to the processes, work with stakeholders in the business units, finance, and fee earning community to utilise and develop KPIs as well as identify process and cultural changes that will benefit profitability and performance.

Building, developing and making recommendations on process improvements to the DIAC and other relevant stakeholders alongside supporting and driving through cultural buy-in to ensure that business units actively manage WIP and exposure will be part of the role. You will have day-to-day interaction with business units working at all levels to ensure messages are consistently given and processes are adhered to. An awareness of reputational and financial risk, how to deal with these and report upwards if required and the ability to be seen as a trusted and supportive confidant are all important.



You will be a Legal Executive or above, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Credit Management, another legal and technical qualification, or qualified by experience with competency in desktop and Microsoft packages. Employment at a senior level within a law firm or other professional services organisation would be highly advantageous with knowledge and experience of the Solicitors Account Rules, Solicitors Acts, Insolvency & Companies, and Court Acts, and other relevant statutes. You will be an effective communicator, resilient personality, tenacious in achieving goals, capable of developing processes, and comfortable in dealing with conflict situations in a measured and professional manner. As this is a national role, travel between locations is expected.
