Part-time 15 hours per week
3 Year Fixed Term Contract

This appointment represents a unique, exciting and challenging opportunity for an appropriately experienced and qualified spiritual care practitioner to enter the world of specialist and innovative mental health chaplaincy.

The post-holder will be responsible as a member of an established multi-faith Chaplaincy Team for providing high quality spiritual, religious and pastoral care to patients, staff, and relatives of all denominations and faiths, and/or none, primarily but not exclusively, in Neuro-Psychiatry and Palliative Care Services

Educated to graduate level you will have a recognised theological/ministerial training leading to accreditation as a licensed minister/faith leader. You will have three years pastoral experience in your current role, ideally of a mental healthcare or equivalent setting. You will need to demonstrate that you can reflect theologically on and have competence in dealing with the spiritual, existential and ethical issues surrounding illness, injury and loss.

You will be sympathetic to the overall aims of the Charity, able to maintain good working relationships with other members of the Chaplaincy Team, Volunteers and Visitors and work collaboratively with St. Andrew’s Values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence. You will have a proven track record of delivering high quality spiritual and pastoral care, multi-faith working, excellent interpersonal skills including accurate empathy, and the emotional stamina required to carry out this role, as well as a strong interest in chaplaincy in a secure mental health setting. There is Sunday and on-call cover commitment.
