Job Description

Associate Agile Delivery Manager: up to £34,285 per annum, circa 27% pension contribution from DWP, flexible working hours and work life balance so you can work in a way that works for you

DWP. Digital with Purpose.

What's your favourite agile approach? Scrum, Kanban, Lean or something else?

We're looking for an associate agile delivery manager to help manage a multi-disciplinary team delivering one of the largest technology projects in Europe.

DWP is the biggest government department in the UK, and you will help lead the strategic design and implementation of an Identity Access Management (IAM) solution that will support in more than 30 million active citizen accounts. It will extend to incorporate capabilities such as identity proofing, transactional risking and behavioural analytics.

Delivery. Work. People: A Day in the life of an Associate Agile Delivery Manager

Day to day, you'll act as both Servant and leader to your team. You'll guard their time, and protect their ability to deliver.

You'll facilitate daily meetings in front of the visualisation board to show the flow of work and communication. This is to make sure your team are aligned around a common goal and that your high performing team deliver exactly what they need to.

But what about lockdowns? What about hybrid working? Your team are spread out geographically.

So, you make use of technologies like Microsoft Teams and Mural, to gather your team, stakeholders and experts to enable workshops and meetings to inspire creativity, engagement and get the best out of them.

Your role as an Associate Agile Delivery Manager is to enable the work, and not impose how it's done.

You will mitigate against micro-management. You deliver projects by giving motivated and skilled individuals the trust, autonomy and conditions to do their thing.

You make the work visible to stakeholders. You will arrange demos from the developer and others. You give your team the chance to share progress and their work to date, so we can discuss options, solutions and suggestions before the story even goes to the testers.

And there is so much more. We want to empower you to create your own career story and journey. Whether you think you're a scrum master, a delivery manager, an agile coach, or something else, you'll use your creativity, experience and expertise to solve your team's problems, minimise noise and enable smooth running.

What skills knowledge and experience are we looking for?

  • Promoting a culture of psychological safety in teams, managing team dynamics. Actively contribute to enabling teams to work in a better way
  • Communicating in a straightforward, honest and engaging manner, choosing appropriate styles to maximise understanding and impact
  • A proactive approach to your learning and development, continuously improving your knowledge, skills and experience
  • Experience of working in an agile product or project management environment

For your best chance to land an interview, please tailor and structure all the information you present around the above essential criteria.
