Casual HGV Driver & Logistics Support Officer - Covering Scotland

Macmillan Cancer Support is looking for Casual Logistics Support officers to drive our mobile information units across the UK, working on a casual basis as and when needed to cover planned holiday, sickness and to provide additional support and flexibility to the team.

Our Mobile Information Units visit high streets, communities, and events to bring free confidential information and support to the local communities.

What’s the role?
Within the role you will need to work autonomously as well as driving the unit. You will be responsible for the set up ahead of a days opening times and dismantling the unit at the end of the day. Due to our delivery taking place on busy high streets, there is a need to have a clear understanding of any health and safety issues and how these can best be mitigated.

You will work collaboratively with the team during the day and full training will be given to support you working alongside the Cancer Information Specialists to provide information and support to visitors during the opening times of the unit.

As well as overnight stays, there will be extensive travel across the region and weekend working. You will be provided with subsistence costs and hotel expenses whilst travelling away from home.

In return we will support you with a full induction and further training to undertake the role.

Who are we looking for?
You will have excellent driving skills, a clear understanding of all regulations relating to driving a HGV and Health and safety. You will also have excellent communication skills and a passion to help people.

Basic IT skills are needed for this role as is a flexible and positive approach. Face to Face customer service experience would also be an advantage.
