Secure Learning Disability Service IPU
Grade - SM1
Northampton
Salary: £41,098 to £46,000 per annum
Hours: Full-time 37.5 per week

An opportunity has arisen for a full time permanent post for our low secure services for men. We would like to recruit a clinical or forensic psychologist who is interested in working with this complex and challenging population and has skill, and preferably experience, of working with adults with learning disabilities and forensic services.   You will join a team of experienced clinical, forensic and assistant psychologists.

The Secure Learning Disability IPU provides specialist care for men and women with mild learning disabilities and co morbid mental health, neurodevelopmental and offending / challenging behaviour needs.

Psychology is highly valued within the service and is embedded within a multi-disciplinary approach.  You will be fully involved in the development, delivery and evaluation of a range of therapeutic assessments, functional analyses and formulation-led psychological interventions.  The therapeutic orientation of the service is a combination of CBT, DBT and ‘third wave’ therapies. Psychology staff play a key role in service delivery and in the delivery of direct psychology activities.

The service has an established DBT service and has assessment and treatment pathways for violence reduction, arson, sexual offending and substance use needs, as well as treatments for mental health and developmental disorder needs.  There will be on-going opportunities to engage in service evaluation and research activities and the psychology team in the LD pathway regularly present positive clinical outcomes at national and international conferences.

You will be an HCPC registered Counselling, Clinical or Forensic Psychologist looking for an opportunity to develop skills and knowledge in the exiting practice of clinical or forensic psychology.
