Virgin Money’s quest to build a better bank is underway with the build of the Virgin Money Digital Bank (VMDB). We’re looking for dynamic people that have the ambition to shape the business they will one day be responsible for running.

Job Description

We’re on the lookout for a Cloud Engineer to technically delivery and support VMDB’s cloud platform including security, storage, compliance, DevOps, data ingestion, deployment and overall platform optimization.

This start-up business will need to be designed from the top down and built from the bottom up; as such the Cloud Engineer will be a critical role in the design, development and implementation of VMDB’s cloud environment. The successful applicant will also work closely with the wider VMDB technology team to ensure alignment of requirements and the delivery of a world class cloud environment for the benefit of VMDB.

During the build phase, you will be instrumental in the implementation of the platform and providing assurance that the platform works as designed from an end to end perspective. Beyond launch, the key responsibilities will be to continually review and refine all aspects of VMDB’s cloud environment and DevOps automation processes. In addition, you’ll be a champion of the cloud environment DevOps automation practices within VMDB.

We’ll look to you to bring external DevOps best practice and keep abreast of new rools and ways od working that will improve the efficiency of VMDB’s DevOps function and enhance its technology platform. You’ll automate everything with IaC incorporating best practice DevOps, CICD and DevSecOps processes and techniques. As an SME you’ll provide guidance and technical expertise in the delivery of key VMD technology initiatives and work collaboratively within the CloudOps Agile sprint team.

To be brilliant, you’ll be highly experienced with technical delivery in a banking and /or digital business with hands-on experience of using Amazing Web Services. You’ll have a good understanding of financial services and banking products with experience of large scale host and container deployments in a cloud or hybrid cloud environment. You’ll have demonstrable experience in networking technology such as Load Balancers, DNS etc. with coding skills in relevant languages applicable to DevOps such as Python, Ruby, Bash, Perl, Chef/Puppet DSL etc. You’ll have great stakeholder management skills, communicating at all levels with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
