The Premier League is looking for a Communications Executive to support the wide-ranging operations of the Communications Department. The right candidate will be motivated, organised and able to work in a fast-paced environment. The candidate should have a strong background in communications.

The role will require the candidate to work with relevant Premier League departments, clubs and other external stakeholders to assist in promoting the League, responding to media and proactive communications planning.

We have a wide variety of responsibilities. These include organising the competition and its Rule Book as well as managing the centralised broadcast and commercial rights. The work we do in conjunction with the Clubs also goes far beyond the 90 minutes. We support and provide a framework for youth development, we protect the organisation’s intellectual property, support the wider game and community programmes, undertake international development work and liaise with governing bodies and other leagues.

The role

The main duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Supporting daily media monitoring and all associated reporting
  • Assisting production of internal communications materials
  • Drafting relevant communications such as briefing lines and press releases
  • Distributing content to media
  • Supporting the delivery of activities and events to enhance the reputation of the Premier League
  • Comms support for Premier League Match Centre responsibilities, which may include liaison with media and broadcasters during match rounds
  • Story development and briefing to media
  • Working with the Head of Corporate Communications to respond to Premier League-related issues as well as the Head of Publicity on proactive campaigns
  • Liaising with the Premier League’s Digital teams to ensure effective use of social and digital channels when promoting the League’s activities
  • Supporting the Department’s Communications Managers with the development and implementation of structured PR plans

Requirements for the role

  • 3 – 5 years of experience working in communications
  • Proven track record in delivering communications campaigns and media liaison
  • Good understanding of football and an appreciation of the Premier League’s structure, policies, issues and context in the industry
  • Excellent writing ability
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and confidence to deal with senior internal and external figures in a professional manner
  • Availability for out of hours work as required, in accordance with our flexi-working guidelines
