It is challenging but immensely rewarding work. You will make contact with some inspirational people and help us raise the profile of vital Macmillan services, campaigns and fundraising activities - which means that you can make a real difference to the lives of people affected by cancer.
As part of the External Communications Leadership team, you will play an active part in setting Macmillan’s external communications agenda. You will also manage a team of 4, working closely with both the national PR team and local service and fundraising teams, to lead the development of Macmillan's external profile in your region. As a member of the London Geographical Senior Leadership Team, you will use your regional insight and communications expertise to give advice and strategic input to Macmillan leaders and senior colleagues, ensuring that Macmillan’s positive reputation is maintained.
You'll use your experience of engaging with multiple stakeholders, including local decision-makers, people affected by cancer, members of the public and the media, to develop plans, messaging and activities that support Macmillan's strategic direction and ensure that Macmillan is both well-known and known well.
Whether your experience has been gained as a journalist, in-house or with an agency, the role requires a good track record in managing a team and budget, planning and executing strategic communications plans, a clear understanding of what makes a good story and an ability to engage and inspire a wide range of stakeholders. You will also have experience in applying corporate identity guidelines across a range of situations including complex partnerships.
And in return we will be committed to your personal development and growth, and will provide excellent benefits that include private medical insurance, life assurance, pension, childcare vouchers, and generous annual leave.
This is a part time role based at Macmillan's London head office.
It will require some flexibility, compensated by time off in lieu, and there will be occasional travel across the UK.
Interviews on 3 & 5 July 2018.
