Expiry Date
Over 200,000 passengers pass through Heathrow every single day, but all of them have a different story.

Job Description

Whether they are flying out on critical business, taking dream holidays or returning home after years away – we endeavour to deliver a peerless quality of experience for all of them.

Our Engineering & Asset management team supports and maintains over half a million assets across Heathrow Airport, aiming to keep the airport running, resolving problems safely before our customers are even aware of them. Focus of the team is on consistent, safe, best practice delivery across Heathrow with a keen eye on cost-effectiveness.

As a Competency & Training Manager, you will be responsible for the development and management of a rail engineering competency system for all Heathrow rail assets covering rail infrastructure, stations, Heathrow POD and Heathrow TTS. You will be developing rail training packages for the Heathrow rail systems that are compliant to statutory requirements and the business needs. Key accountabilities include assisting the HAL Engineering training departments to specify, develop and deliver rail based training for all rail staff, interfacing with other Heathrow departments to ensure Heathrow Rail’s needs are met and to ensure that Heathrow Rail is promoted throughout the airport and the rail industry.

We are looking for someone with excellent technical knowledge and experience of rail systems, including rail infrastructure, rolling stock or autonomous vehicle systems. A good technical knowledge of automated control systems and experience of station facilities covering mechanical and electrical systems would also be valuable to build relationships with other stakeholders.

As such, it’s a challenge for a dynamic individual with a proven track record in training. You’ll be equipped with skills to engage your audience when presenting complex information and key stakeholders. Good working knowledge of related legislation, particularly The Railways and Other Guided Transport Systems (Safety) Regulations 2006 (ROGS) would be an advantage.

If that’s you, this is your chance to be a part of one of the most dynamic places to work in the world. Heathrow is like a city within a city: every day nearly 80,000 people of all ages and backgrounds come here to work, brought together by one common goal – to make every journey better for over 75 million passengers a year.

In return for your skills, experience and commitment we’ll provide you with a challenging role in a dynamic business. You will get the support you need to develop your career in a vibrant environment and receive a competitive rewards package.
