Job Description

Content and Learning Specialist (Editor) - MFL

Description

At Pearson, we’re committed to a world that’s always learning and to our talented team who makes it all possible. From bringing lectures vividly to life to turning textbooks into laptop lessons, we are always re-examining the way people learn best, whether it’s one child in our own backyard or an education community across the globe. We are bold thinkers and standout innovators who motivate each other to explore new frontiers in an environment that supports and inspires us to always be better. By pushing the boundaries of technology — and each other to surpass these boundaries — we create seeds of learning that become the catalyst for the world’s innovations, personal and global, large and small.

About the role

We are looking for someone with a passion for education and languages, with a great eye for detail and strong project management skills. You will be part of a friendly and high-performing team, working closely with and supported by that team to understand customer and learner needs and create great resources for the Modern Languages list. This role is appropriate for someone looking for their first role in Educational Publishing: previous publishing experience is desirable but not essential - the successful candidate will receive a range of in-house training and mentoring to equip them to do the job successfully.

A day in the life of….

During a typical day you might engage in some of the below activities:

Content development

  • Working alongside our publishers to evaluate author content to ensure it is fit for purpose.
  • Quality assuring the work of our suppliers to ensure they are hitting our quality benchmarks.
  • Liaising with our digital team to ensure resources are made available on our digital platforms and are checked thoroughly where needed.

Project management

  • Managing the schedules of components you are responsible for, ensuring on-time delivery.
  • Proactively identifying any risks to those schedules and suggesting solutions.
  • Attending and contributing to project team meetings.

Market and customer understanding

  • Getting out into schools, testing sample materials with teachers and learners and making suggestions for improvements.
  • Building your market understanding through contributing to research initiatives with Secondary Modern Languages teachers.
  • Alongside the rest of the team, responding to customer queries about our products and services.

Pearson is an equal opportunities employer. We do not discriminate against employees or job applicants and select the best person for each job based on relevant skills and experience.

We are also committed to building an accurate picture of the make-up of the workforce and encouraging equality and diversity.
