Job Description

For thirty years, Stonewall has been campaigning to improve the lives of lesbian, gay, bi and trans (LGBT) people. Stonewall’s mission is to ensure that all lesbian, gay, bi and trans people are able to participate fully in society and achieve their full potential. Our voice matters – we produce regular research reports, fundraising appeals and campaign content that leads the conversation about LGBT rights in Britain.

 

Join our team as our Copy Editor and act as the guardian of Stonewall’s tone of voice by reviewing all external-facing written material and ensuring that we only release high-quality, well-produced copy.

 

As part of our Creative Services team, you will influence staff at all levels to ensure everyone has the skills to utilise our tone of voice by delivering high-quality, engaging presentations and training. You will responsible for reviewing our tone, setting style guidelines and our glossary in line with current best practice whilst maintaining established procedures. This will include leading copy updates to existing resources.

 

Supporting the organisation, as requested you will edit and proofread all copy which is produced by internal departments, using meticulous attention to detail, you will ensure it is accurate, compelling and in keeping with Stonewall’s tone. You will be the point of contact within the Communications team and expected to lead on special project such as drafting high-quality, engaging copy for brand campaigns, blogs, annual report.

 

The successful candidate will have one year’s copy editing/writing and proofreading experience within an organisation with the ability to write effective copy for a wide range of audiences, from a casual supporter to a CEO or be a graduate with the equivalent demonstrable copy editing experience.

 

If you can work with copy across all media platforms and are highly organised with an ability to work to under pressure and engage comfortably with employees, stakeholders and supporters, both face to face and over the phone, this role provides an excellent opportunity to develop your skillset,
