Job Description

The Crude & Heavy Products Scheduler works with the crude scheduling roles in Fuels NA to manage the delivery of crude oil to the BP-Husky Refinery. This person is also an integral member of the refinery Commercial team and is involved in the in-month campaign and out-month planning process. This job description is intended to provide an overview of the position and does not include all the tasks that might be required to provide support for your area job requirements.

  • Manage the delivery of crude oil to the refinery.
  • Coordinate crude movements with schedulers in Chicago and Calgary to proactively identify the impacts of schedule changes and inventory issues on the refinery and take action to mitigate them.
  • Participate in the campaign planning process and daily optimization discussions.
  • Interact with the refinery Operations and Technical organizations to ensure operational feasibility of the crude plan.
  • Work with the refinery Optimization, Operations, and Technical groups to track crude run constraints and seek to mitigate these constraints in order to increase gross margin.
  • Lead the process to evaluate new crudes.
  • Interface with the Crude Knowledge team regarding crude quality tracking and use this as a tool to drive better supply and optimization decisions.
  • Track and manage heavy oil inventories (resid/DCO). Work with operations and marketing when issues arise to minimize impact on refinery operation.

  • Required: High School Diploma/equivalent and 5+ years refining or chemical plant experince OR Associates Degree and 3+ years refining or chemical plant experience
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree

  • Minimum three years of refinery or chemical plant experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software package (excel, word, PowerPoint, access).
  • Preference for experience with Aspentech software
  • Able to analyze data and use the outcome of the analysis to positively influence business decisions
