Curriculum Specialist Supervisor

Scope and Impact of Job

Responsible for the hiring, management, and development of Specialists who report into the incumbent, at manager’s direction.

Maintains staff by partnering with manager to recruit, hire and manage; developing personal growth opportunities.

Track deployment and hiring needs. Make recommendations based on forecasting, gaps, trends, campaigns and product releases. Recruit, hire, manage.

Accomplishes staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; conducting training; implementing enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.

Contribute to sales campaign planning, training and delivery needs (pre-work, pilots, campaigns, presentations, post-sale Activation delivery). Includes product, platform and sales/PA prep and logistics, individual and group skill sets, coaching and mentoring to prepare for deployment.

Support communication strategy for Program Activation communication, planning, customer support for sales teams. Support/reinforce policies and guidelines with direct reports.

Support delivery of all sales and PA events including individual, remote, multiple CS PA events.

Contribute to RFP and service proposal language RE: Activation as directed by Manager.

Supports manager to identify, communicate and prioritize training needs to Sales Enablement, Product Line VPS, Services Director of Internal Training and help to manage a training plan that will effectively maintain the correct level of CS expertise in assigned markets, ensuring flexibility for sales campaigns, Pearson program priorities, and trends within assigned markets. Strategize and implement training for needs outside of the Training Team scope and budget.

Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards; adhering to legal regulations.

Monitor and control expenses for Curriculum Specialist team by maintaining a geographically based team with the correct balance of content expertise to minimize travel within market cluster.

Provides quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Delivers both sales and services as needed according to established utilization percentages.


Education and Experience

Supervisor of direct reports in sales and services roles

Proven success in sales management to consistently exceed sales targets

Proven ability to coach, mentor, develop, and performance manage sales resources

Proven success in managing a sales team that sells multiple products with a significant services component

At least 5 years sales experience in a sales-driven, customer-focused and quality-oriented organization

Proven experience networking with and influencing decision makers

B.A. degree or equivalent experience, Master’s degree preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with executive level internal & external clients.

Organizational & detailed-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage differing needs of the business.

Knowledge of educational services industry preferred

Strong communication skills: verbal, written, and presentation environments, leveraging technology

Ability to coach sales and services specialists effectively in the selling process to successfully close deals

Previous success as a strategic sales thinker and with a record of executing sales and services plans

Must be able to collaborate with specialists on customer engagements or step in and lead the sales effort in large and/or complex deals where needed.

Able to quickly gain knowledge of new and existing product lines and solutions and apply this to managing a team

Ability to help the sales specialists to use, understand, and demonstrate (where needed) appropriate technology tools internally and externally

Ability to effectively manage the forecast process for individual specialists, and as a team within the market


Experience with business process automation, proactively identifying, managing and mitigating risk using established productivity tools and protocols.

Knowledge of Pearson product and platform features, capabilities, and best use; highly proficient at applying wide variety of concepts, practices and procedures across the platform and success management.

Knowledge of Pearson competitive landscape and technical ecosystem.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent knowledge/high level proficiency with PC or Mac hardware and ancillary hardware/software applications
