We are seeking a Data and Reporting Analyst that will be responsible for increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of processes within our Legal Organization. As the Data and Reporting Analyst for Legal Operations, you will immerse yourself in data collection, draw insight from analysis and clearly communicate recommendations to leadership and implement solutions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES:

Spend and eBilling:

  • Audit legal invoices for accuracy and compliance with billing policies.
  • Maintain, update and provide support to the legal team on the eBilling system. Provide or coordinate training on system as needed.
  • Proactively research and propose solutions to system, system set up and use issues.
  • Identify, research and resolve billing issues. Work with Finance and Accounting as needed.
  • Provide analysis to assist in rate and fee negotiations; identify cost reduction opportunities
  • Identify control gaps in billing and approval process. Identify opportunities to improve billing guidelines.
  • Perform research and provide ad hoc reports on legal spend as needed.
  • Develop and manage a system for monitoring, auditing and measuring the effectiveness of the ebilling system and reports.
  • Maintain integrations with billing system(s), review error logs and resolve issues as appropriate.

General Reporting:

  • Collect large amounts of data from multiple sources and systems to create a monthly dashboard report.
  • Drive the development of monthly and quarterly business metrics.
  • Develop and oversee Key Performance Indicators for monitoring and reporting of departmental performance.
  • Provide operational analysis through reports and dashboards to facilitate management decisions.
  • Creation of ad hoc analysis and reports in business objects to analyze data and respond to inquiries from senior management.
  • Prepare regular reports to highlight key legal matters for senior management and provide trend analysis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Analytics, Business, Marketing, Finance or Accounting. MBA in combination with significant operational experience preferred.
  • Experience in legal billing, and legal systems in a corporate legal department desirable.
  • Six Sigma Training a plus.

Additional Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • High degree of analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills to perform deep analysis, identify root causes and create appropriate solutions cutting across divisions and functions.
  • Experience reviewing, exporting and reporting data from multiple systems (eBilling, eDiscovery, and contract management) to Excel and Tableau.
  • Ability to mine, and analyze data and use that analysis to make business recommendations.
  • Advance proficiency with MS Office, specifically MS Excel (V lookup, pivot tables, charts and formulas).
  • Proficiency with Tableau highly desirable.
  • Advance written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills.
  • Must take initiative and be proactive in communicating promptly with internal customers and with vendors.
  • Ability to work independently, often under the pressure of deadlines, is important.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and manage major projects to successful completion.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to synthesize data.
  • Ability to create high quality presentation materials.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as an individual and as part of a team.
  • Some travel required as necessitated by business unit requirements.
