Data Solutions Architect
The role will provide will provide business focused data architecture and analytics solutions as part of the Enterprise Data Warehouse and Analytics (EDW&A) group. This role sits in the broader Enterprise Architecture and Core Platforms function in the Technology workstream. This role is accountable for the solution architecture deliverables and the overall functional solution for EDW&A projects (business requirements process and technology). The Solution Architect will work with the Data Delivery team leads and our business sponsors to clearly define analytics solutions that follow the EDW&A platform architecture guidelines and principles. Additionally, the Solution Architect will work with our Enterprise Architects, Data Architects, Project Managers and PMO teams to create solution deliverables, solutions roadmaps and business engagement strategies to ensure the analytics solutions directly fulfill the business requirements and objectives.
The Solution Architect will be expected to learn, leverage and refine Data Solutions processes and frameworks for project solution delivery (based on and in line with the Pearson development framework).
The role will report to the Pearson Enterprise Data Warehouse Manager and will work closely with the project management/PMO peers within the Enterprise Architecture and Core Platforms Group.
Designs analytics data solutions driven by an Architectural Design Proposal that reflects the business analytics requirements and in accordance with the Enterprise Data Warehouse framework including Enterprise Architecture best practices. The solution architect will spearhead the creation and approval process for the Architectural Design Proposal.
Designs business/technical solution architecture through conducting needs analysis, routine problems resolution and outcomes estimation, in accordance with Data Solutions standards and processes.
Analyzes business requirements, current analytics gaps and data required to support business analytics and meet business expectations.
Plays a key role in conducting risk assessments, quality assurance processes and routine issue resolution for all phases of project implementation.
Estimates on the effectiveness of data solutions outcomes; communicates client feedback to technology teams in order to improve deliverables and meet business requirements.
Management of project risks and issues, in conjunction with our PMO team.
Responsible for the oversight and monitoring of the inter-dependencies and open issues for Data Solutions Team leads and developers working on delivering solutions, liaising with leads on those projects where necessary.
Running Data Solutions team status meetings and troubleshooting non-technical issues that arise and ensuring other technical blockers are assigned to an appropriate owner for resolution.
In conjunction with the PMO/Project Management team, accountable for setting deadlines, evaluation of milestones, assignment of responsibilities, and sign off on key Data Solutions program deliverables that are part of your purview.
Responsible as a team leader for the management of key stakeholders for the set of projects under your management.
Assisting the Director of Data Solutions in preparing Budgets, Business cases and tracking actual costs, forecasting and project estimation .
Support in managing the engagement of senior stakeholders for Analytics within Pearson Technology, helping to prepare key communications material or escalating risks and issues in a timely fashion for resolution.
Assisting the team within the Data Solutions with all commercial documents to ensure that the team’s requirements for external contractors are satisfied and that commercial responsibilities are met
Plans and oversees the day-to-day running of workstream/team and delivery of milestones on time.
Ensure best practice management of the team, including regular feedback and effective and supportive people management (though no direct line management is required in this role)

Build relationships and trust with key stakeholders to support program delivery and collaborative approaches where appropriate
Communicate in line with communications and program plans with team and wider stakeholders.
