The post holder will lead the delivery of UKSV operational functions in-line with the business objectives, supporting the development and delivery of strategic priorities.

The Successful candidate must therefore be able to demonstrate evidence of their success in the following essential areas:

- Proven strategic and thought leadership skills, with the ability to handle complexity, show imagination and inspire staff through periods of uncertainty
- An inspiring and confident communicator who will establish and maintain strong, influential relationships with a range of stakeholders across Government, public and private sectors
- Highly developed collaboration skills with a wide range of stakeholders
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and influencing skills with a demonstrable ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders up to a senior level
- The ability to work under pressure and deliver improvement to the way that performance is managed, to drive quality standards, and to facilitate the sharing of good practice across the organisation
- Change orientated with an understanding of change models and leading the implementation of organisational change.
 

Responsibilities

- Provide visible and strong leadership, in line with CO and Civil Service values that will engage, develop, and motivate a diverse workforce at all levels to perform to the best of their ability
- Foster excellent relationship with all consumers of the vetting service across HMG, negotiating and then managing fit for purpose MOUs
- Driving up performance and quality of service in all areas of the Vetting Enterprise achieving KPI/SLA
- Fully modernise operations
- Working collaboratively with management to provide assurance on operational performance, identifying and supporting areas deemed at risk
- Responsible for operational performance, analysing variations and gaps in performance and identifying risks, trends, potential issues and good practice
- Implementation and embedding of operational change programmes across the business, ensuring it becomes business as usual and the benefits of change are realised
- They will ensure the delivery of a streamlined and flexible Vetting Enterprise that achieves its business priorities within the allocated budget
- Maximising the efficiency of the organisation through the effective use of standard operating practices, digital working, and internal business practices
- Secure the confidence and trust of internal and external stakeholders, senior leaders and peers, using influence to improve UKSV performance and its reputation and to establish effective and collaborative working with all partners to ensure the implementation of key change programmes
- Work closely and proactively in partnership with key senior operational managers to create a culture of continuous improvement that encourages innovation and establishes a corporate ethos and way of working
- Sponsor of digital change initiatives, leading the provision of business requirements and driving collaboration with the UKSV Technology area. They will continually seek to improve performance by taking advantage of an evolving IT enabled environment and anticipating changes in business practices, trends and processes.
