We are seeking a Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO) to play a crucial leadership role in public health across the UK, and to help develop evidence-informed policy in the Department of Health and Social Care and across government. The DCMO will jointly lead the newly established Office for Health Promotion, playing a critical role in establishing and setting the strategic direction for this new body. The role will involve working with public health, clinical, scientific and professional bodies and stakeholders to drive innovation in health improvement policy and delivery, as well as supporting and representing the CMO’s office in delivering expertise on high profile, national objectives.
The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in a significant and challenging national role; inspiring the respect of ministers and stakeholders at all levels; and capable of applying excellent strategic thinking skills across a broad and complex portfolio with an outstanding eye for detail. You will need to be a credible leader within public health, able to demonstrate the leadership capability required to bring together large teams under a single transformative agenda.
