Two opportunities are available within Department of Health's Mental Health Directorate:
Deputy Director for Mental Health Policy and Delivery
Deputy Director for Mental Health Legislation and Justice
The Mental Health team is a high profile, fast paced policy team based within the Directorate of Mental Health, Dementia and Disabilities in the Department of Health. The Prime Minister has made Mental Health one of her key priorities, taking a personal interest in the policy and looking, with the Health Secretary, to leave a legacy of improved mental health care across the country.
Poor mental health affects one in four people and is a major issue for individuals and society. It has an impact on an individual’s education, work and their relationships, as well as links with health risk behaviours and associated premature mortality. The Mental Health team strives to improve the lives of people affected by mental health issues and the increased national focus on mental health means the Department is in the best place it has ever been to make a real difference.
This is a very exciting time to join the Department and the Directorate and we are looking for two excellent candidates to help drive forward this important agenda.
