The Director is responsible for the strategic development and efficient and effective use of the detention estate, the welfare of 3,500 detainees across 8 immigration removal centres and short-term holding facilities and escorting of immigration offenders in-country and overseas, and co-ordination of advice to Ministers and others on the Government’s response to Stephen Shaw’s assessment of progress on his 2016 review of welfare in detention.
For this high-profile role, we require someone who is a strong influencer, with excellent communication skills, and has experience of working with Minister’s in a politically sensitive environment.
