We are looking for a highly experienced Director, to lead our Center of Excellence (COE) within our Market Research and Insights (COE) team. This team is made up of experts in communications, branding, and marketing research as well as Customer Experience (C/X) Research. You will be the senior point of contact and will lead the development and presentation of evidence based strategic recommendations on messaging or on business strategy for internal clients. You will provide oversight and paint the “big picture” based the research findings. You take ownership of your accounts, your team’s success and you’re willing to be bold and bring new ideas. You will report to the Head of Research and Insights and will lead researchers on branding and customer research to make sure you are helping others within the company make better marketing and strategy decisions based on insights. Collaboration, partnership and active stakeholder management is foundational to success in this role. The work will simulate that of an agency, with fast-moving internal clients who will need this group to act as a strategic partner to set the research agenda and deliver insights to help them meet their business objectives. A strong client-centric mentality, ability to adapt to changing needs, and a passion for making research and insights actionable is key. This individual will: 1)Be incredibly passionate about the power of data and information to transform a business, tell stories, and build relationships 2)Set the research agenda for marketing and brand collaborating with Marketing, Sales and Product Management teams to ensure insights agendas are well-integrated, relevant and aligned across Pearson 3)Champion data driven decision making across Pearson and raise the relevance of Insights across Pearson by constantly using insights to engage with other stakeholders and build relationships within the organization 4)Have a thorough understanding of classic methods of research (qualitative, quantitative) as well as emerging methods (social listening, syndicated reports, analytics) 5)Build a creative, energetic high-performing team that understands the distinction between research and strategic insights. Because this will be a newly formed organization, you should be comfortable in a startup environment, and be willing to roll up your sleeves and wear multiple hats as we get the function up and running. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ●Manage the research team by cultivating a culture of curiosity, insight generation and analytical thinking ●Proactively manage “accounts” ensuring overall financial account health and appropriate team allocation ●Establish best practices and consistency in communication approach to research findings across Pearson ●Continue to monitor and review the processes and skills of the team ensuring the clients receive the best in class service ●Manage a team responsible for: ○Conducting research projects to inform marketing, brand, social impact and reputation strategies within the company ○Acting as a strategic partner with internal clients in those groups to ensure that we are arming them with the information they need to be successful ○Surfacing stories to the senior leadership that highlight the impact of our products aligned with the internal and external content, product, sales & marketing as well as communication strategy for Pearson ○Developing proposals and statements of work in conjunction with your team members ○Deliver clear insights as messages that help define communication strategy, facilitate speed and accuracy of market strategy and as a result make a positive impact on the business implementation MAIN JOB DIMENSIONS Strategic Decision Making: obtaining information and identifying key issues and relationships relevant to achieving a long-range goals and vision; committing to a course of action to accomplish a long-range goal or vision after developing alternatives based on logical assumptions, facts, available resources, constraints, and organizational values Aligning Performance for Success: focusing and guiding others in accomplishing work objectives; setting performance goals; achieving targets; creating a learning environment Accountability and Ownership: takes ownership for targets and drives achievement through effective leadership, determination and motivation to succeed Innovation: generating innovative solutions in work situations; trying different and novel ways to deal with work problems and opportunities and achievement of revenue Building Partnerships: identifying opportunities and taking action to build strategic relationships between one’s area and other teams, departments and organizations to help achieve business goals.
