Job Description

We are looking for a senior communications professional to join our leadership team as Director of Communications.  This is one of the most interesting and rewarding roles in government and a unique opportunity for an exceptional strategic communicator to make a real contribution to the delivery of government priorities for the economy that will benefit people throughout the UK.

Underpinned by the delivery of an ambitious Industrial Strategy, we pride ourselves on creative cross-channel communications to tell the story of how we are making Britain fit for the future. Given our wide-ranging agenda, which includes energy security, mergers and takeovers, workers’ rights and the biggest investment in science and innovation in a generation, advancing the UK’s Clean Growth Agenda and preparing for exiting the EU, it’s an exciting time to join us.

As Director of Communications, you will play a leading role in shaping and delivering compelling plans to communicate our ambition.  Supported by a high-performing team and working closely with ministers, the Executive Committee and other government departments, you will lead the full range of professional communications functions to secure tangible outcomes for businesses and consumers.

You will be a senior communications professional who can create practical and innovative responses to complex issues, with the ability to set creative strategies and campaigns, as well as respond to events as they unfold.  You will be committed to developing a high performing team, raising standards and implementing the most modern communication techniques.
