Three fantastic but very different opportunities for progressive, innovative HR professionals

Job Description

Few roles offer the modern communications professional such an opportunity, on such a scale, at such a pivotal time.

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is the UK’s tax, payments and customs authority with a vital purpose: to collect the money that pays for the UK’s public services and help families and individuals with targeted financial support. We do this by being impartial and increasingly effective and efficient in our administration. We help the honest majority to get their tax right and use hard measures against the minority who deliberately try to cheat the system.

We are committed to an ambitious transformation programme that will ensure HMRC plays its full part in driving the economy forward and that our customers receive as efficient and professional a service as possible. We are currently undergoing one of the most significant organisational transformations in Europe to become a smaller, digital, customer-centric and more professional organisation, based in fewer locations, while serving 45 million individual customers and more than 5.4 million businesses.

This is a time of intense public interest in the design and operation of the tax system. We are under constant scrutiny and subject to reporting, discussion and commentary. We are now looking to appoint a Director of Communications to lead our communications function forward. You will develop and implement our communications strategy, and advise our key internal stakeholders on vital communications and reputational issues. You will drive excellence in all our communication activities, utilising a diverse range of channels to engage with both internal and external stakeholders, and ensure appropriate alignment with the wider government priorities. You will also provide effective and professional leadership to over 200 staff in our Communications function.
