Job Description

Investigations Command is the core crime fighting capability of the NCA. We take an intelligence-led approach and concentrate on tackling the criminals and risks to the public which are beyond the capability or capacity of other law enforcement bodies. 

The Investigations Command provides a flexible, shared operational capability, designed to maximise the impact of the UK's collective resources against serious and organised crime, and in specialist support of major crime. Our teams respond to a broad range of threats, many of which also remain a responsibility for police forces and other agencies as well as private industry. 

Our teams also lead investigations across the Serious and Organised Crime landscape and provide a national service of specialist investigative skills and expertise to support major crime investigations conducted by police forces, such as abduction, serial sexual crime and no body murder. 

The NCA has a number of Disclosure Officer roles nationally who work as part of our skilled investigations team. This is a unique opportunity for you to bring your skills and experience in support of high profile, serious and complex investigations. Additionally, there are opportunities to become a Disclosure officer on Operation Stovewood, the largest investigation into non-recent child sexual exploitation undertaken by law enforcement. 

We are looking for individuals with recent experience of managing disclosure in complex serious and organised crime investigations. The successful candidate will have recent experience of managing disclosure related obligations in cases involving digital material and of managing relationships with CPS (prosecution and Counsel). Post holders will also have an in depth knowledge of the legislation and guidelines related to Disclosure management. 

The NCA provides a unique opportunity for you to bring your skills and experience in support of high profile, serious and complex investigations.

  • Recording, retaining and reviewing of all material during investigations.
  • Application of the tests for 'relevance and sensitivity' to all material as outlined in the Prosecution Team Disclosure Manual and the CPIA Codes of Practice to ensure compliance and consistency.
  • Provide disclosure related advice and guidance to the SIO and case team in relation to third party material, evidence, continuity and material that may undermine the prosecution case or assist the defence.
  • Production of accurate and comprehensive disclosure schedules as agreed with CPS. • Give evidence in court in relation to disclosure matters.

You will be required to supply evidence of: 

  • Recent experience of managing relationships with CPS (prosecutors and Counsel)
  • Recent experience of managing disclosure in complex serious and organised crime
  • In depth Knowledge of the legislation and guidelines related to Disclosure management
  • Recent experience of managing disclosure related obligations in cases involving digital material
