The firm is organised into groups that undertake a general spread of work, encouraging lawyers to work on an extensive range of matters. Much of the work spans the globe, with transactions involving our overseas offices as well as leading independent law firms in many other jurisdictions.

Group structure of our Dispute Resolution (‘DR’) practice

 Our DR practice is led by 12 partners and currently has 58 associates and 17 trainees. As an evidence associate with us, you will potentially work with any of the partners in the DR group and also those from outside the group, giving you the opportunity to see a wide range of working styles and strategic approaches.
 The practice encompasses the whole range of commercial and financial disputes including banking litigation, competition litigation, contractual and other commercial disputes, administrative law matters and energy/infrastructure disputes. It also includes investigations carried out by the FCA, SFO, European Commission, CMA, HMRC and overseas investigating agencies.

Role and responsibilities
 To support the wider case team on evidence based tasks across the full spectrum of the department’s litigation, arbitration and investigations work, to include assisting with document collection, preservation, review and production. Depending on client needs and experience, specific tasks may include:

• Conduct e-discovery evidence reviews using different management platforms coding documents as required by the matter, including for relevance to particular issues/witnesses and privilege
• Identify and analyse evidence relevant to particular issues 
• Draft evidential summaries and/case narratives
• Assist with devising searches
• Carry out legal research on particular issues of law or public source research on factual matters 
• Assist with the production of documents to third parties
• Assist with coordinating work with the internal and external disclosure teams to facilitate the smooth operation of review and document production exercises
• Prepare and update chronologies
• Prepare indexes and document bundles
• Apply redactions to documents manually or using relevant software
• Carrying out evidence identification and verification work as part of witness or expert interviews
• Assist with the production and revision of evidence review protocols throughout a matter and liaise with the wider case team throughout as the matter evolves
• Work with and support the relevant matter associates and/or partners, or their delegate

Key skills and attributes
 • Appropriate level of post-qualification experience in a City law firm or equivalent (whether in the UK or another jurisdiction), combined with prior experience in evidence review teams
• Top-level legal/commercial knowledge and analytical skills
• Top-level drafting skills
• Strong academic background and a high level of intellectual rigour
• Excellent efficiency and project management skills
• Ability to develop and work in a fast paced, intellectually challenging environment
• Resilience under pressure with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
• Willingness to present to large and small groups, both internal and external
