The Opportunity

Responsible for the design and delivery of optimised Harness routings using JLD CAD standards and methodology to connect to all Electrical connections on a vehicle. Additionally, responsible for the Virtual and Mechanical integration of Electrical owned components in vehicles in their ideal Grid locations. This entails a collaborative mindset interacting closely with cross-departmental teams (Body eng, Chassis etc), Manufacturing, Vehicle engineering within Product Engineering.

The opportunity is the delivery of two main workstreams. Firstly, Harness package utilising your design skills and Electrical workbench experience within CATIA and secondly responsibility to package robust Electrical module locations to meet customer requirements and functionality.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Create compatible package solutions for Harness routing and Electrical components in almost every zone of the vehicle (40 eZones)
  • Creation of Harness routing including 12V, 48V and HV cables adhering to JLR CAD standards
  • ‘Design in context’ work ethic to ensure geometry compatibility with cross-functional teams including Body, Trim, Powertrain, Chassis, Manufacturing, Service & Design.
  • Coordinate, present and report package status at peer reviews
  • Secure packaging sign-off of installations from all stakeholders
  • Ensure all Harness and Electrical component packaging solutions meet the functional requirements & adhere to the keep out zones (SDS’s).
  • Ensure that harness routing complies with the JLR methodology and CAD standards.
  • Responsible for creating strategic module locations (Grid) that delivers optimised Harness package
  • Support and resolve any Harness & Electrical package issues from Physical build events
  • Support Virtual Series countdown events, manufacturing virtual builds, Program Go/No Go events, must resolves
  • Application of Bill of Design (BoD) and knowledge of Bill of Process (BOP) whilst designing Harnesses and Electrical components.
  • Create change documentation including 2D Drawing mark-ups to support Harness industrialisation
  • Complete 3D geometry vs Physical harness checks


Knowledge, Skills and Experience


  • Certified Catia V5 / V6 user
  • 3D Experience (Enovia) and TeamCentre (Tce)
  • Harness routing experience using Electrical Workbench
  • Component packaging experience
  • Negotiation/trade off skills
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred


  • HV Harness routing experience
  • Working in an Agile Structure
  • Bill Of Design and Bill of process knowledge
  • Harness manufacturing experience
  • ECAD/MCAD alignment experience
