We are looking for an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Manager who can confidently and credibly engage with law firms and representative groups to encourage diversity and inclusion in the profession.

Job Description

Here at the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), our core job is to protect the public by regulating the 200,000 solicitors and nearly 10,000 law firms in England and Wales. It is important to us that the profession is diverse and inclusive - where solicitors can progress whatever their background and people can access legal services from a profession which represents the people it serves.

We are looking for an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Manager who can confidently and credibly engage with law firms and representative groups to encourage diversity and inclusion in the profession. You will have an opportunity to implement diversity initiatives which make a difference and develop resources which solicitors can use in their practice to promote inclusion.

Reporting to the Head of EDI, the role holder will also have a thorough understanding of the public sector equality duties, including experience of supporting the equality impact assessment of our policies and processes.

What is in it for you?

  • The chance to make a real difference to diversity in the legal sector
  • The scope to build and develop excellent relationships with stakeholders in the profession
  • The opportunity to work with colleagues who share your passion about diversity.

What we are looking for:

  • A relevant degree level qualification or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrable knowledge of legislation and best practice on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
  • A track record of developing and maintaining good stakeholder relationships and working collaboratively to deliver creative Equality, Diversity and Inclusion initiatives
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including analysing data and evaluating information for formal reports
  • Resilience and the ability to work flexibly in a changing environment and balance competing deadlines.

Experience of work in the legal sector is an advantage.

The successful candidate will be working partly from home, with one or two days in either our Birmingham or London offices. This is a full-time role and flexible working is welcomed. Please note that some out of hours working for events and with external organisations is likely to be required.

Interviews will take place during the week commencing 11 October 2021.
