As a key member of the Corporate Property Team, you will work alongside the Senior Surveyors to ensure we are meeting our obligations as both an owner and occupier of property. You will:
· Take full estate management responsibilities for a portfolio of premises, delivering property advice to support the various needs of the business and maximise the benefits of the Defra property network.
· Provide high-quality recommendations on the properties and workspaces in your portfolio, including supporting the group-wide transformation programme that will include various property transactions.
· Ensure your specialist advice is in line with current legislation, working with (and commissioning) external property advisors as appropriate.
· Work with a wide array of cross-government colleagues and stakeholders, including external professionals such as property lawyers.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop your capabilities and expertise in a well-respected and fast-paced team, taking on a number of career-enhancing challenges. As such, you will ideally be educated to degree-level, and you will have a recognised professional surveying qualification from on organisation such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. With considerable experience of estate management, you will be commercially astute with good corporate real-estate market knowledge. This will include a comprehensive understanding of property law, with a focus on landlord and tenant, plus corporate real estate and commercial property management. Comfortable managing leases and disposing of leaseholds, you will also have transaction experience across both freehold and leasehold property. As a collaborative team-player, you will enjoy the support of the Principal Corporate Property Surveyors, but will be equally comfortable managing your own multi-layered workload.
