Job Description

Are you a qualified or final stage accountant looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity? Would you like to challenge and influence senior stakeholders to ensure our financial decisions best support our ambition to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer?

If so, we have the perfect role for you.

What’s the role?
You will lead on budgeting and management accounts within an assigned business area and work closely with a Senior Finance Business Partner to provide expert advice to senior business managers on financial decision making.

You will need to challenge stakeholders to take the best decisions for the organisation, taking into account the financial impact, most effective use of resources and corporate strategic objectives. In addition, you will be the financial representative on relevant project groups and work closely with managers and budget-holders to provide financial advice and support.

The role includes the opportunity to develop your management skills by line managing two Finance Advisors within the team. It also provides scope to develop your business partnering skills and ensure a consistency of approach to budget holders across Macmillan.

Who are we looking for?
You are a qualified or final stage accountant with management accounts experience gained within a complex organisation. Whether charity or commercial, you will have a proven track record in building and maintaining relationships and influencing a variety of stakeholders.

Exposure to a computerised accounting and reporting environment and the ability to use Excel at high level will be important tools to success in this role.

You must demonstrate the well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to ensure that financial concepts and information are clear - whoever the audience might be and whatever their level of financial knowledge. A positive and flexible results-focused outlook will make you a valued resource to the organisation.

What can we offer you?
In return for your commitment we will actively develop your skills. Our benefits include a 34.5 hour week (with early finish on Fridays), private medical insurance, life assurance, pension, childcare vouchers, generous annual leave, and interest free loans for season ticket and gym membership.
