Purpose of Role

The Finance Business Partner is responsible for delivering high quality Financial Planning & Analysis, Corporate Finance oversight and Insight reporting to the London Estate and Operations business teams.  This reporting provides the Executive and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) with the appreciation and understanding to inform decision making and enhance business performance of the London Estate and Operations teams.

Working closely with the Finance team, the Location teams, and the Operations team, the candidate should be a confident communicator, able to skilfully summarise complex issues and influence senior stakeholders. The ability to develop and maintain strong relationships is therefore critical.

The role plays a key part in understanding the drivers of growth and profitability for the London Estate and Operations businesses whose objectives are to grow their contribution to Grosvenor Britain & Ireland’s sustainability and recurring income targets. To perform effectively, the successful candidate requires strong time management, prioritisation and a commitment to creatively identifying and realising efficiencies through performance improvement. This is an excellent opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in a large, multi-sector property business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effective partnering with the London Estate and Operations business teams, being a critical and highly valued friend, helping them to understand, communicate and enhance their performance and the risks and opportunities in achieving it.
  • Monitor and control key data for projects, ensuring it is stored for these projects is accurate. Ensure consistency of data across various business systems.
  • Provide deep insight into the drivers of business performance as well as the risk and opportunities that might impact it; including rental returns, operating efficiency, external income opportunities, and strategic adjacencies, providing analysis that informs decision making and drives value.
  • Collate quarterly forecast and budget submissions for the team and communicate comparisons to actual performance. Ensure business stakeholders understand and own their numbers in order to facilitate high quality discussions, at team and executive level
  • Assist with appraisals of new projects (strategic adjacencies/sustainability/innovation projects, ‘Small, Medium, Development Projects’), challenging assumptions and suggesting areas for improvement.
  • Responsible for provision of information to the Central Reporting, Tax, Legal, Sustainability & Innovation and Treasury teams as and when required.
  • Work with the wider London Estate Finance and Data Insights team to collectively increase the level of analytical skills, and through sharing insight across business sectors, integrate the finance contribution to property teams’ tenant facing decisions and relationships.
  • Maintain documentation on agreed processes and actively identify and implement ways to improve processes, particularly in line with Grosvenor Britain & Ireland’s environmental and sustainability goals.

Key Relationships

The Finance Business Partner will report to the Finance Director, London Estate and Operations, providing confidence and assurance that the Location and Operations’ team forecasting, budgeting and insight reporting is being completed to a high standard. The role will work closely with the other members of the Grosvenor Britain & Ireland finance team, including Central Finance (Overheads and Reporting), Tax, as well as the other members of the London Estate Finance team.

The role is closely aligned to the activities of the London Estate and Operations business teams, working as a trusted advisor and critical friend to their Senior Leadership Team. Building and maintaining strong relationships with the teams will be essential to the success of the role.

Key Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (3+ years PQE)
  • Degree level educated
  • Excellent numeracy, analytical and accounting skills
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication with clarity and simplicity
  • A self-starter with a proactive, common sense approach
  • Highly diligent with a strong attention to detail, but able to step back and see the bigger picture
  • An enquiring mind, always looking to learn, improve and innovate
  • Skillful manager of stakeholder relationships, able to build and maintain strong networks, whilst willing to apply challenge where appropriate
  • Sustainability - implements more sustainable ways of working and encourages others to improve sustainability performance
  • Experience of using property specific asset management and forecasting systems
  • Genuine interest in property and specifically Grosvenor Britain and Ireland’s London portfolio (previous experience in a property business would be useful, but not essential)
