Summary of Role:

We are currently seeking a Manager, Finance Business Partner to support the Online Blended Learning group. The role will be positioned in Columbia, MD, and will primarily support the School Services, Family Marketing and Analytics and Family Support groups within the Online & Blended Learning (OBL) organization.

The role will provide strategic finance support to business leaders to drive decision making. The position is responsible for preparing analysis and reporting to enable business management to deliver on objectives, optimize costs, and effectively plan.

Main activities/responsibilities:

  • Provide financial support to management and department leaders
  • Oversight of results and KPIs and informed and insightful commentary ofmonthly, quarterly and annual variance analysis compared to budget or other forecasted amounts
  • Support operational planning and forecasting: develop financial targets based on input from OBL operational teams, share projected data with Operations and Finance Leadership to ensure data meets business expectations
  • Facilitate monthly reporting; this includes development of monthly commentary for OBL Management Package that compares monthly results against plan or forecast targets
  • Provide financial insight and analysis to support strategic decision making
  • Assist in establishing goals for the department and staff
  • Develop financial models to support the budgeting, forecasting, cash management and other commercial activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Pearson policies, internal controls and business processes
  • Manage or participate on special projects, automation and process improvement initiatives
  • Prepare analyses and gather supporting documents to support audits
  • Interact with customers including employees, management, accounting department and internal and external auditors and peers at parent company
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Proven business partnering experience (3 years )
  • Qualified with demonstrable experience in management accounting role
  • Experience with an Enterprise System - preferably Oracle
  • Strong understanding of materiality and ability to prioritize across competing agendas
  • Ability to identify business risks and implementation of tactics to mitigate
  • Understanding of financial control, business performance management and process optimization and experience of working in more than one of these areas
  • Well proven ability to conduct business case and investment analysis
