Job Description

The Acetyls BU is one of two global business units in Petrochemicals (PetChems) within the Downstream segment. The business consists of 8 production sites in U.K., U.S., Trinidad and Asia and covers the entire value chain from Manufacturing through to Sales, in a variety of business models. BP Acetyls is one of the world's leading manufacturers of acetic acid and its derivatives and we are evaluating exciting opportunities to continue to grow our portfolio. We are looking for a Finance Director who will have responsibility for the overall finance agenda of the Global Acetyls Business Unit (BU) and ensuring its implementation. You will be a member of the Leadership Teams for Finance and the Global Acetyls and be responsible for ensuring all accounting, reporting, control, planning and performance management and strategy activities for the BU are performed accurately, timely and efficiently. Throughout the accountabilities of the role, you will lead the identification of continuous efficiency improvements in Finance processes and drive differentiated business performance in terms of financial outcomes. You will maintain close working relationships with other business stakeholders, acting as 'co-pilot' and providing professional Finance support.

Key areas of accountability for the role are:

Risk, Control, Compliance, Accounting & Reporting Accountabilities (for the BU)

  • Responsible for the overall accuracy of reporting, close process and managing robust interfaces with GBS and the business
  • Oversee the process of recording all transaction, evaluates the process to ensure the integrity of the financial accounts including monthly process to close the books and validates the quality of all data reported
  • Oversees the financial reporting processes in accordance with Group policies and local standards
  • Maintain a strong internal control environment
  • Responsible for the statutory accounts

Planning & Performance Management & Reporting (for the BU)

  • Accountable for timely, accurate and reliable financial MI - including analysis and interpretation to highlight where performance intervention is required
  • Accountable for the GFO process
  • Drive effective Cash and Working Capital management

Strategy and Projects (for the BU)

  • Active engagement on strategy development and lead the financialisation of the business strategy
  • Ensure FMs and ATNs comply with GIAAPs and the Downstream Investment Management requirements
  • People and E&C (for the BU)
  • Accountable for the People agenda of the Finance team, which includes - people safety, building capability, developing talent, succession planning and ensuring effective team performance
  • Inspire and motivate the Finance organisation
  • Shape and drive the E&C agenda for the BU to ensure activites are ethical and compliant.

Partnering (For the BU)

  • Integrate across Finance and other business team, acting as ''co-pilot'' to the business, maintaining strong relationships.
  • Facilitate conversations between relevant parties to ensure financial implications are understood, transparent and the right actions are in place to maintain financial integrity and meet strategic targets.
  • Act a key point of contact with Tax, Treasury, Legal and Compliance functions as well as driving effective interfaces with GBS and external audit (as required)

You will ideally have a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance, Business, or Accounting. You will also have significant Finance experience in a large complex matrix environment and proven capability of business partnering to deliver performance. Understanding of the economic drivers of the key geographies that affect the Global Acetyls business will be essential along with the ability to quickly assimilate data to identify key issues and aid decision making, able to anticipate future situations and plan ahead to meet them. You will also have experience in leading and developing people in US, Europe and Asia; through a D&I lens and have high impact with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Fluency in "business English" is mandatory.
