A Global career at Holman Fenwick Willan:
We offer our trainees an environment where they will be working alongside some of the most respected and talented lawyers in their field, embracing opportunities that include international seats and client secondments. All of our trainees complete one of their seats in one of our international offices, learning about the global aspect of our work. Working abroad also provides our trainees with the opportunity to meet and work alongside our international clients. Recently, trainees have completed seats in Geneva, Piraeus, Paris, Dubai, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, Melbourne and Perth.
We recruit 15 trainees each year, split across a September and March intake. Our recruitment process consists of an online application, an assessment centre at our London office, the vacation scheme (if applied for) and a final round interview with two partners.

We look for trainees with sharp minds, common sense, enthusiasm and ingenuity. We look for team players who work hard and are client-focused. We are an international business so our trainees have a global perspective and an interest in completing cross-border work. We accept applications from all disciplines and backgrounds, from law and non-law students and from students and experienced graduates alike.
Each year we recruit approximately 50% law and 50% non-law students. We recruit penultimate year law students (and beyond) and final year non-law students (and beyond). Recent trainees have studied subjects as diverse as music and engineering or, following graduation, have worked in areas as varied as the Lloyd’s market, retail, music and banking. We welcome people who are becoming lawyers as a second career.
Our vacation schemes are an integral part of our recruitment process for future trainees, and we consider all of our vacation scheme participants for a training contract. Vacation schemes are a great opportunity to gain hands-on, quality legal experience.
Throughout our recruitment process we assess candidates on a "CV blind" basis. This is to help us to ensure that individuals are selected on merit alone, and details such as the name of the school/university that you attended do not form part of our selection criteria.
