Job Description

We produce both academic research and policy-oriented analysis for a wider audience.


We are looking for an experienced policy analyst to join the Institute’s policy analysis team. The successful candidate will lead programmes and projects to inform and influence decision-making, particularly in relation to UK climate change and energy policy. The successful candidate will play a leading role in the policy analysis team, including the management of two policy analysts. She/he will play an active intellectual role in the life of the Grantham Research Institute, including the ESRC-funded Centre for Climate Change Economics and Policy.


The post-holder will have a PhD or equivalent experience in environmental or energy economics and policy, or a related field, as well as significant experience in conducting user-oriented analysis and engaging with decision-makers on energy and climate change policy in the public, private and third sectors in the UK and abroad. The successful candidate must have high-level analytical skills, the ability to produce high-quality analysis in a timely manner and the ability to produce policy-relevant outputs of a very high quality. Detailed knowledge and understanding of UK climate and energy policy is essential as is the ability to manage a small team of policy analysts. Excellent written and oral communication skills are also essential.
