This senior management position is based within DWP’s Estates Function as part of the Finance Group. As a member of the Estates Senior Leadership Team, this role will oversee the embedding of completely new operating and commercial model.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

?    Establish and maintain a robust business risk management process in order to maintain a comprehensive governance framework that reflects the key business risks and defines appropriate policies, procedures and controls to mitigate those risks;

?    Evaluate new compliance requirements and how they impact on the business to establish and operate an effective internal audit function to provide assurance to the board;

?    Lead/work with functional teams to streamline processes to improve the customer experience, to enable profitable growth and become more efficient, and to improve expertise at all levels;

•    Lead and implement a coordinated policy strategy to advance Estates organisational priorities;

•    Review and develop all aspects of DWP Estates Health and Safety Policy and activity, and ensure that it is implemented consistently across the organisation.  This is inclusive of monitoring new and upcoming Health and Safety legislation, and ensure that DWP Estates has systems and procedures in place to meet legal compliance, to promote safeguarding and a safe environment throughout DWP ensuring a safety culture is adopted by all stakeholders;

•    Developing and managing a comprehensive energy strategy that encompasses supply side energy procurement, demand side management including energy efficiency projects;

•    Working with senior stakeholders across the Department at Ministerial, Director General and Director Level to provide advice, direction and assurance on all Estates issues and to represent the Commercial Directorate at senior management Board and Advisory Group meetings across DWP, and externally with OGDs as required;

•    To play a leadership role across the Deputy Director peer group across Finance Group to provide consistent joined up approaches to business partnering, systems and people development.
