This is an exciting and important senior leadership role in a high-profile area of MoD where you will be required to regularly engage with senior stakeholders across Whitehall and outside of Government.

Job Description

Whilst you will lead a team which includes technical experts, you do not need to be a technical expert yourself, providing you are willing and able to learn enough to sufficiently represent the business to senior stakeholders.

This role leads the Defence Intelligence Counter Proliferation (DI CP) division, which is a national centre of excellence providing timely, high quality all-source and geo-spatial intelligence assessment and advice for:

  • assessing global Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) developments, including their related technologies, financing and means of delivery, and associated regional proliferation hubs and networks;
  • enforcing national export-control mechanisms in relation to technologies of concern; providing warning of attempts to circumvent national counter-proliferation policy, arms control treaties and international export control regimes; and supporting efforts to deter and disrupt proliferation activity; and
  • monitoring strategically important conventional weapons programmes as well as state-to-state and grey arms transfers which raise proliferation concerns.

DI CP conducts its analysis in accordance with direction from key Defence policy and operational stakeholders, and with the counter proliferation objectives agreed by the National Security Council.
