The Department of Management is the largest department at the London School of Economics, with over 70 faculty, 50 Professional Services staff, and associated guest lecturers and teachers.

Job Description


The department has over 350 UG students, 800 MSc students, 30 PhD students and 100 Executive students.

The Head of Research Operations & Department REF Facilitator is lead Professional Services Facilitator for the Department’s submission to the Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021) and the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) for the PhD Programme. The postholder is responsible for managing all financial allocations of Staff Research Funds and externally funded grants, overseeing the coordination and resourcing of the Department’s research environment, leading and chairing the cross Department Research Operations Group, ensuring consistency of service is applied across all Professional Services functions relating to research.


Candidates should be educated to degree level or equivalent and should have substantial and relevant previous administrative experience in a Higher Education environment, knowledge of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) operation and requirements, demonstrable staff management experience and experience of financial management.
