About the team

This role sits within the Talent and Business Development department. This team focuses on developing the employability skills of students and alumni of PCL and building bridges with the external business community to provide opportunities for collaborative engagement. We’re a driven, creative, supportive and fun group of people.

Major Duties

  • Working directly with students individually and in groups.
  • Responsible for shaping and implementing the PCL strategy for talent development of students.
  • Provision of an effective range of high-quality student focused (and, where appropriate, student-led) workshops, business challenges, coaching and opportunities to prepare graduates for the globally competitive recruitment market.
  • To be a senior representative of PCL to a range of decision-makers in external organisations, including high-profile employers.
  • Line management of the student talent development team.
  • Oversight, promotion and development of the Talent Development Centre
  • Liaising with: Graduate recruiters across various sectors, Professional Bodies, Alumni, Graduates and Prospective students

Key Duties

  • Oversee the provision of professional advice, training and education in relation to talent development.
  • Embed a culture of continuous innovation and improvement to ensure all stakeholder needs are being met and exceeded.
  • Develop, review and lead employability related services to create more opportunities for 24\
  • 7 delivery through the use of on-line to facilitate the growth of the student body.
  • Ensure that the student experience when engaging with talent development is excellent through the use of feedback/ evaluation of services and direct engagement with students, in order to drive continuous improvement and innovation in the services offered.
  • Develop/ establish links with companies and studios to support: increasing graduate employment opportunities for students; increasing internship and apprenticeship opportunities for students and PCL; and enhancing PCL engagement with corporates and studios for the benefit of all learners at PCL.
  • Engage with external stakeholders to promote PCL as a leading institution for graduate employment
  • Create awareness of the PCL alumni talent pool amongst graduate employers, studios and SMEs
  • Assist and contribute to the development and embedding of national reporting statistics including the Graduate Outcomes and NSS submission
  • Consult/collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the talent development workshops/events compliment and support areas for student development.
  • Develop and report on agreed KPIs (e.g engagement KPIs) to ensure the quality of service delivered and to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Provide high quality written reports, information and presentations for internal and external audiences.
  • Annual recruitment of Talent Development Ambassadors from the student cohorts.
  • Working with the Director, Industry Engagement to provide a consistent and coherent talent development strategy across PCL.
  • Liasing with the marketing and recruitment teams to ensure our offer is promoted to potential students; this will include presenting at some recruitment events and contributing to TD focused marketing material.

Desirable (the post holder will have some of the following characteristics, but we are keen to hear from a range of applicants including someone who may be looking for a career change into HE):

  • Significant experience of careers guidance/talent development
  • A Master's degree or other higher qualification or significant work experience
  • Event Management experience and/or proven organisational skills
  • Significant commercial experience in business or the creative industries
  • A genuine desire to bring the best out of students, to prepare them for employability and an enjoyment of working directly with students and employers
  • An imaginative and creative approach
