Job Description

The UKRI GCRF Gender, Justice and Security Hub is a five year project working at the overlap of three major policy fields: Sustainable Development Goal 5 on gender equality; goal 16 on peace, justice and strong institutions; and the implementation of the Women, Peace and Security agenda. The Hub is housed in the Centre for Women, Peace and Security, a leading academic space developing strategies to promote justice, human rights and participation for women in conflict-affected situations around the world.

The main responsibility of the Conventions Manager will be to design, organise and manage an ambitious programme of multi-day conventions over the 5-year duration of the Gender, Justice and Security Hub. Conventions will be held in (or close to) Afghanistan, Colombia, Iraq, Lebanon, Myanmar, Northern Ireland, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka and Uganda. The post-holder will play a leading role in developing and implementing the Hub’s convention strategy, liaising with Co-Directors and Regional Managers in providing high quality design, planning and logistical management of the conventions.

Candidates should have experience working in an events, project support or communications role in an academic context, or in the field of women’s rights, human rights or international development. Experience of organising large scale or multi-day events is essential. Experience in working collaboratively with colleagues overseas and organising events in remote locations, would be an advantage.

We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave and excellent training and development opportunities.
