DWP. Digital with Purpose.

DWP is the UK's biggest government department. Over 22 million people access our services every day, and around 100,000 people work to provide the support, benefits and advice they need. And we're currently taking on a generational digital transformation that is changing how we deliver for our users.

Our scale is unique and our purpose is extraordinary. In DWP Digital we're transforming the products and services we deliver to make them better and more accessible for the people who need them.

So, if you'd expect our technology infrastructure to be massive and complex, you'd be right.

  • If all of DWP's desktop devices were stacked, flat on top of each other, they be 2½ times the height of the Burj Khalif in Dubai.
  • We made enough Microsoft Teams PSTN calls last month to fill Twickenham Stadium more than 73 times.
  • Add all the cabling in our OPH Datacentres together, and you get the equivalent distance between our digital hubs in Blackpool and Newcastle.

Our pension offer is pretty big too, with over 27.9% contributions from your employer.

And we make sure our people have a really good work/life balance. You'll enjoy the benefits of flexible working, including flexi time which means you can manage how and when you work, and hybrid working (some time at home, some in a DWP hub location).

We are looking for a talented Infrastructure Operations Engineer to join us on our journey to service excellence within our Technology Services team.

Technology Services provide the foundations upon which digital services for DWP are developed and operate. Our purpose is to deliver secure, user-centric, high quality and cost-efficient digital infrastructure services and to run live IT operations that support DWP business objectives.

Our team is made up of 1,500 colleagues working collaboratively across 10 portfolio-led teams in a fast-moving environment, delivering an end-to-end suite of digital products and services that support DWP colleagues and citizens in an ever-evolving technology landscape.

You'll join a team of experienced Infrastructure Operations Engineers, with responsibility for the maintenance and support of a technical platform from which business critical services are delivered. The work you do on DWP's infrastructure makes a real difference to millions of people.

The cover is shared around the team and would normally equate to one shift per week.

We have the tech and tools we need to enable our people to work flexibly. We offer hybrid home/hub working, with many currently working from home where it is possible to do so.
