About the job

This role is responsible for developing and working with others to implementproductstrategies that will secure and grow revenues, profit and market share for an allocated international portfolio and its customers and stakeholders.This involves understanding the ways that qualifications, curriculum and assessment contribute to and influence the educational environment. The position holder will develop coherent and integrated propositions across Pearson spanning qualifications and services that support them including teaching, learning, assessment, professional development and digital support and services.

This job:

● maintains a deep understanding of customer needs and market dynamics through close liaison with learners and customers

● leads development of theproductstrategy for qualification,curriculumand assessment developments, tenders and support products and services

● works collaboratively across Pearson to provide a best-in-class customer experience including the free surround, events and information we provide to customers throughout the lifecycle, continually improving that experience

● contributes to the growth strategy of our international portfolio and the continual improvement of how we do things as a department and as a wider business

Main responsibilities:

1. Insight and market shaping

● Generate a strong evidence base for new and live products and services (via learner, customer, stakeholder, labour market and competitor research) to establish customer/client, learner and stakeholder needs and behaviours

● Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders and clients throughout the lifecycle

● Develop and maintain insight into best practice (teaching and learning, assessment)

● Represent Pearson at conferences and in meetings with stakeholders, e.g. governments, regulators

2. Product strategy and financial management

● Manage qualifications through their lifecycle, making well- med decisions about withdrawal, extension, redevelopment, new market entry and strategies for mid-cycle growth

● Develop international portfolioproductstrategiesworking with regional colleagues and other stakeholders,defining winning qualifications, assessment and support propositions that meet our financial targets

● Manage opex and capex budgets

● Contribute to the financial and strategic planning process, reviewing one- and three-year forecasts

3. Product design and development

● Create design proposals for qualifications,curriculum,assessment and support materials-for 14-19 and adult learnersthat draw from a strong evidence base and deliver the strategy and proposi on agreed

● Contribute to the qualification,curriculum,assessment and support materials development process (e.g. sourcing and briefing writers, reviewing materials) to ensure they are in line with stakeholder and customer requirements and deliver our strategy

● Secure client, customer and/or stakeholder support/recogni on, endorsement and partnerships that will give us competitive advantage

4. Sales, marketing, support and customer experience Collaborate with colleagues to:

● ensure internal-facing teams understand product strategies and propositions, features and benefits, and any amendments through the lifecycle clearly and simply

● devise and implement effective, data-driven sales and marketing campaigns and high-quality customer journeys

● deliver high-quality customer and stakeholder professional development and network events

● deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment support

● deliver a customer experience that provides consistently high sa sfac on, and retains and a racts business

5. Leadership and management

● Work effectively in virtual teams across Pearson to ensure a positive working culture in support of Pearson strategy, e.g. virtual development and bid teams

● Champion a ‘learner and customer first’ culture across Pearson, ensuring there is good understanding of what is important to learners and customers and that all decisions are made with reference to their needs

● Lead on departmental initiatives to deliver better service to our customers and learners, drive growth, develop commercial partnerships with stakeholders and other third parties, and influence major stakeholders

● Lead engagement with key international stakeholders, being self-motivated and able to liaise directly with Government, regulatory and educational stakeholders in other jurisdictions

● Mentor and manage staff as required

Qualifications and experience:


● Qualified to degree level or equivalent

● Experience and understanding of the UK and/or international education and qualifications market and environment

● Experience of working on the development and/or operation of qualifications for allocated portfolio

● Experience of leading and/or working effectively in virtual teams

● Experience of developing and implementing winning and customer-focused strategies

● Experience of developing customised qualification, curriculumand assessment solutions for tenders


● Teaching experience

● Experience and understanding of a sector / sectors

● Experience of managing forecasts and budgets

● Project management experience
