We are looking for a Lead Infrastructure Operations Engineer, with experience of Data Centre operations to work with us on a once-in-a-generation digital transformation.

You effectively be our Data Centre Operations Lead. You'll lead and direct specialist teams in monitoring, operating, and supporting technical solutions for critical DWP services.

You'll have licence to develop the strategic and tactical roadmaps for technologies and services in your area, ensuring they are future proofed so that DWP get maximum value from the technologies we invest in.

We want you lead the Data Centre Operations team. That means responsibility for managing suppliers and vendors who provide Data Centre infrastructure (racks, space, power and cooling) and 24/7 remote hands capability. You'll make sure we deliver services and products that are aligned to industry best practice, as well as regulatory and contractual requirements.

What skills, knowledge and experience do you need?

IT Infrastructure

  • You have experience of leading teams and departments in the design, implementation, administration and support of infrastructure solutions and services.

Delivering at Pace

  • You ensure everyone clearly understands and owns their roles, responsibilities and business priorities.
  • You give honest, motivating and enthusiastic messages about priorities, objectives and expectations to get the best out of people.
  • Maintain own levels of performance in challenging circumstances and encourage others to do the same.

Managing a Quality Service

  • You deliver positive customer service by understanding the complexity and diversity of customer needs and expectations.
  • You deliver a high quality, efficient and cost effective service by considering a broad range of methods for delivery.
  • You make clear, practical and manageable plans for service delivery.
  • Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory and security requirements in service delivery, and proactively manage risks and identify solutions.

Technical Experience

  • Knowledge of technologies and solutions, and demonstrable experience and technical capability across projects and service lifecycle
  • Experience of managing infrastructure technology across a multi-supplier landscape.
