Are you someone who can take a leading role in making digital services quicker, simpler and more efficient for the people who use them every day?

If so this is an exciting opportunity for a Lead Interaction Designer to join us at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) and we would love to hear from you!

As our Lead Interaction Designer, you will lead and mentor a multi-disciplined team that designs user focused and delivers successful services. You will drive the team through transformation, enabling them revamp and deliver online services and digital solutions to meet user needs.

You will be passionate, persuasive, engaging and absolutely have a can-do attitude, allowing you to develop and manage relationships at all levels with internal and external stakeholders.

Role responsibilities

As our Lead Interaction Designer, some of the key responsibilities of your role will include:

  • Lead a team of interaction designers to support the development of services
  • Lead a team to deliver designs
  • Sets the design standards for user experience of digital services and ensures that these adhere to and implemented by the interaction design team. Deliver designs that meet web standards, ensuring that key elements are built in from the outset
  • Communicating credibly with a wide range of digital delivery disciplines and talent both internally and externally
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships between internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to / implement policy, process and external improvements.
  • Interface with the Head of Creative Design ensuring that team members have well defined personal development plans to meet the skills required for the role.
  • Allocate pieces of work and managing day to day team performance and delivery against timescales.
  • Act as the escalation route and additional expert advisor across the service teams, promoting the visual solutions that customers need on the services being designed.

ABOUT YOU

To thrive in this role, it is essential that you passionate and enthusiastic about Interaction Design.

We will look for you to bring strong leadership skills to this role with the ability to coach and mentor your team and drive them to the next level.

Excellent communication skills are pivotal to this role; in particular it is paramount that you have excellent conceptualisation and visual communication ability, ensuring the message is not lost in translation.

You will have second to none interpersonal skills with the ability to build solid, professional working relationships at all levels.

You will have design knowledge developed from either a design related degree or user experience working as a designer. Going forward we are committed to encouraging and enabling our staff to develop in and above their role and we will support you in undertaking further development opportunities.
