The Houses of Parliament Restoration and Renewal Programme will be the largest and most complex restoration of a historic building ever undertaken in the UK.

Job Description

Parliament voted to set up in law a two-tier governance model, with a Sponsor Body overseeing a Delivery Authority who will prepare the detailed proposals and then deliver the work. The Sponsor Body acts on behalf of Parliament?and its Board includes representation from both Houses and the wider infrastructure and heritage industries, and the Delivery Authority, including its Board, includes the technical expertise needed to execute the work.  

The Sponsor Body has five directorates:

Governance and Parliamentary Relationsmunications and External Affairs, Business Case and Benefits Management, Programme and Delivery Assurance, and Corporate Services (Finance, HR, Information Management, Legal and Internal Audit).

The Sponsor Body is seeking outstanding individuals to become Lead Project Sponsors. Reporting to the Director – Business Case and Benefits Realisation, the Lead Project Sponsor will act as the strategic lead for a nominated project/(s) within the R&R Programme, being the focal point between Parliament and the Delivery Authority to ensure that the project is successfully developed and delivered. These are key roles for the Sponsor as they will provide strategic direction to the projects and set the project priorities.

The successful candidate(s) will be an effective leader with proven experience of operating in a programme/project environment in a client/sponsor role. They will bring the skills to create effective working relationships and the ability to influence across a wide range of stakeholders.

Terms and conditions

  • Contract type: Fixed term
  • Duration: 3 years, with the possibility of an extension
  • 30 days annual leave entitlement
  • Salary circa £75,000 per annum
